So far on my vacation, I have read two books on writing, and I've done research on curriculum to teach African American studies. My principal told all us to relax and rejuvenate over the Thanksgiving Break, but if I do that, I won't be ready for when we return.
I didn't like my kids' last writing prompt, because they simply don't the structure of good writing. So, I began an internet search for a program to improve it. I found a great one that uses patterns to teach the parts of a well-written sentence, paragraph, and essay.
I've never seen a writing program like this before, and I can't wait to try it out when we return. Now, if I had simply relaxed, I wouldn't have found the program, and I'm quite sure that my principal will be glad I found it. So, my choice was to relax and be unprepared when we return, or do the work I never have time to do when we are in session. That's the life of a teacher!
