Kids Educational Gifts: Part 4

Today's gift ideas focus on boxed sets of educational DVDs. I bought my granddaughter the "Your Baby Can Read" series and it really does work. She was reading real words in about five days. We would even write the words on plain paper to see if she would recognize them with different lettering, and she did.

There's a lot of different research out there about young children watching too much TV, but I believe that educational DVDs in small doses and with parental interaction are great.  Get involved, sing the songs and dance with your child, and have a great time!

Kids Educational Gifts: Part 3

Whether you know it or not, children love music, and believe it or not, they love classical music.  I play classical music in my classroom whenever my students need to concentrate.  These are children that normally listen to Hip Hop music, but they love the gentle and calming nature of classical music.  If I forget to turn it on during their independent work, they'll remind me to do it.  They call it their "concentration music."
